The study is to examine the role of thrift and credit cooperative society in enhancing the empowerment of its members in Kaduna state. With a case study of 7up multipurpose cooperative, society.
The research was carried out on the following objectives to assess the role of cooperative in the empowerment of its members, identify the challenges faced by cooperative societies in empowering its members and also to examine and identify the solutions to the challenges mention.
The research seek to address problems such as the causes of poverty, lack of starting capital, impact of cooperative on members empowerment and the programs put in place to tackle poverty.
The objective of the study are to determine whether co-operatives societies have contributed to the development of standard living of its members, to assess the financial problem affecting coÂoperative societies and to determine the roles of cooperative towards economic development of living of its members. The researcher uses both primary and secondary source of data through the use of questionnaire which was administered.
The Role Of Auditors With Their Clients And Third Parties
A statistical analysis like frequency distribution and percentage mean statistic were use on analyzing the data. Finding of the study shows that cooperative enterprise main objective is to promote the socio-economic interest of her members in accordance with cooperative principle and for the purpose of facilitating the operation of this principle..
The result of the study is that cooperative has been one of the vital instruments for members empowerment.. In conclusion, the research (project) shows that with the help of cooperative, poverty can be tackle and alleviated. Shows that cooperative can help in the empowerment of members and the communities as well.

CHAPTER ONE
Introduction
Background of the Study
The need to carry out this research is to make known the role of thrift and credit cooperative societies in the empowerment of their members. So the aims and objectives of this research are to create awareness of the potentialities of thrift and credit cooperative society to the members.
Thrift and credit societies are one of the cooperative societies that are developing faster and have come to stay in Nigeria. For this reason, the research is meant to study and bring out the role of thrift and credit activities in Kaduna State. However limiting the study to only 7up Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd.
7up thrift and credit cooperative society limited was formerly registered as a single purpose society. At the beginning, the society started with 10 strong registered members but can now boost of 395 members including those that are with the company depots.
The director of cooperative, Ministry of Agriculture Kaduna State, registered the society as a Multipurpose Society on the 11th January 1990 and issued with sealed certificate, the need for a multipurpose society anchor on the functions performed towards its members.
