62,140 Candidates To Re-Write 2017 UTME on 1st Of July [Check If You Are Among]

The management of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that aboutย 62,140 2017/2018 UTME candidates will have to re-write the university admission examinations scheduled for Saturday July 1, 2017.

Prof. Oloyede explained that the reason for the rescheduled examination was for candidates of centres with mass malpractice but who were deemed innocent.

โ€œThe rescheduling of examination is for: biometric non verification machine
related issues, technical and log out issues, late registration, malfunctioning of servers at the centre and incomplete results,โ€ he said.

The registrar of JAMB, Ishaq Oloyede, said these at a press briefing after the boardโ€™s management meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.

The JAMB cancelled 62,140 results ofย  candidates in centres-induced malpractice, 3,811 late registration, and 683 candidates who had biometric challenges.

57,646 results were cancelled as a result of centres-induced malpractices. These set of candidates are among the 62,140 that will re-write their UTME.

It was also reported that, JAMB has blacklisted 48 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres as a result of serious technical deficiencies, extortion, organised examination malpractice and other damaging infractions during the examiniation.

The board also suspended 24 centres for one year due to technical issues.
It said the affected centres may be considered for 2019 exams.

According to the board, 1,722,236 candidates registered for the 2017 unified Tertiary Matriculation Board, which is the highest figure ever in the history of the exams.

How To Check If You Are Among The Candidates To Re-write 2017 UTME

There are three ways to check if JAMB has categorised you among the candidates to re-write their UTME. Below are the steps to follow in checking:

  1. Text Message: If you are to re-write you 2017 UTME, you are expected to receive a text message from JAMB informing you the latest development. Check your registered phone number and see if you received any text of such.
  2. Check Your Email: I believed you provided an email when you were registering your JAMB, kindly check that mail and see if you recieved any message from JAMB telling you about re-write..
  3. Login to your JAMB Profile: You can use your email and password to login into your JAMB profile to confirm your stutus. If the above two failed, this JAMB profile cannot fail. Check if you have been reschedule for 2017 UTME.In case you are to re-write, by 19th of June, kindly re-print your exam slip and prepare for July 1st for the exam.
