As we all know that, traditionally, Universities do conduct post UTME examination for all their applicants after passing their Jamb before an admission would be given. This system has been adopted by all Nigerian Institutions for a very long time.
Until recent time, when Federal government scraped such exercise due to so many reasons. The news was a welcome ideal to most Nigerian UTME applicants as they will no longer have to travel or incur unnecessary expenses while searching for admission.
Many Universities Refused To Honour This Directive
After the directive, so many universities has thereafter announced their post UTME and so many has even conducted it. This development actually caused a lot of confusion as students are particularly not sure of what directive to follow.
It is to prepare for post UTME or not as the Federal government has instructed?
This has been the situation most Nigerians University’s applicants are till this moment. Yesterday, Monday 23 of June, 2016, the Federal Government reemphasized it that, no school should conduct post UTME for any applicants across Nigeria for this year admission and henceforth.
He directed those who have already advertised the exercise under any
guise to retrace their steps immediately or face appropriate sanction. Its was also contained in the statement that, if there must be any admission screening, it should be verification of students certificates after the admission must have been given. Not a pre admission screening exercise.
The minister made this known through the Deputy Director (Press and
Public Relations) in the ministry, Mr. Ben Bem Goong and instructed that
the National Universities Commission and appropriate departments in the
ministry communicate this directive to relevant agencies and
institutions to ensure strict compliance.
They also order the refund of all the money collected from all applicants in this regards for all schools that has released registration.
Schools like UNIBEN, and Uniport has so far suspended their ongoing admission screening exercise.
We will give you update as things goes.
