Base on the current scrapping of post UTME for applicants into Nigerian Universities/Polytechnics, in the last joint admission policy meeting. So many applicants were so happy about the development because they thought they will no longer travel from States to States to write any entrance exam in their schools of choice.
This is also supposed to aim at putting a stop to unnecessary spending that Nigerian students were exposed to before and during the conduct of the post UTME. Moreover, most schools did not only followed the JAMB pattern of exam in conducting the post UTME but they also used past questions from JAMB.
Based on this, the Minister of Education and Jamb authority decided to put an end to it and suggested that schools can conduct admission screening for applicants but must not be in the nature of Jamb exam. This is because most schools are found of conducting their post UTME using students Jamb combination subjects.
Has Post UTME Been Cancelled?
After this meeting and conclusion drawn, most Nigerian applicants assumed there will no longer be an invitation from any school with respect to admission screening exam, but contrarily, many of Nigerian Universities and Polytechnics have continue to invite their applicants for admission screening exercise in recent.
Most of these institutions that have announced their 2016/2017 admission entrance exam so far may still follow the previous pattern because of the following:
- Screening will still be CBT: Base on information we’ve read so far… many schools will still be using their CBT facilities to conduct their exam. Universities like LASU stated it that their exam will be CBT.
- Its still likely to be the same exam: In the on going registration of 2016/2017 admission screening for UNIBEN, applicants can download past questions to practice, what does that mean? If you don’t know, it means the exam will be like that of last year, since past questions still remained relevant.
- Most students will still have to travel: Most of these exams are meant to be conducted in the school premises, meaning applicants still travel to their various schools location for exam.
- Applicants still have to pay for the screening: Just like before, applicants will still have to register and pay a certain amount of money to participate in the exam.
The big Questions Is…..has anything changed?
Or is the scrapping of post utme meant to commence from next year?
IF you are an applicant to any Nigerian University, kindly prepare and read hard just like you would do last year when there was nothing like scrapping of post UTME. Don’t be caught unaware.
Don’t think you won’t write exam
Don’t think the exam will be easier
Just prepapre as much as possible.
All the best dear.
