This report is aimed on how to install and maintain ceiling fans and lighting system. The purpose of installation and maintenance of the ceiling fan and lighting system is to improved the cooling system and enhance the brightness in the lab. The procedure been followed in the installation and maintenance is use discrete equipment as well as assembled and maintained. Theses equipments are fans, regulators, cables, energy saver bulbs, lamp holders and switches. The equipment was used to obtain appropriate good result. The assembled was also taken and followed according institute of electrical and electronics engineering (IEEE) regulations.

This report is presented as a documentation of the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment in the instrumentation and control system laboratories of the department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering Kaduna polytechnic. Most electrical equipment are complex and complicated with several independent units. Thus, their troubleshooting and repairs is also bound to be complex.
Safety is the highest important to consider when working with electrical equipment. Always take precautions for personal safety and the safety of the equipment on which one is working. Equipment manual includes detailed safety articles which outlines the steps one should follow to avoid injury. The articles also describe safety precautions. It is imperative that one only tackle that fault which was understood. Thus, it can be said that one should attempt to repairs only the items he is confident repairing.
1.2 Background Of Study
In electrical and electronic engineering department of Kaduna polytechnic, there are several sockets, electrical fans and lightening system in the various laboratories. These laboratories include electronics laboratory, telecommunication laboratory, control and instrumentation lab e.t.c Most of these electrical appliances became bad due to aging, poor handling and lack of adequate maintenance and repairs. Hence the need for maintenance and repairs has become paramount in this perspective.
1.3 Statement Of The Problem
The problems observed include socket, have no power on it, these may be due to blown out fuses or open circuit. With about the electrical ceiling fan, the blades of the fan are broke and the regulators are beds of the four fans. Insuffient of cooling system and lack of enough of the brightness in the laboratory i.e instrumentation and control system laboratory.
1.4 Aims And Objectives
The aims and objective of this project is to restore and retain a given fault equipment into its normal operational standard. Hence the task here is to maintain and repair the given faulty socket, electric fans regulators, improve cooling system by additional of fans and enhancing brightness of light in the control and instrumentation laboratories.
Virtually this report is based on electrical installation and maintenance so therefore one of the basic procedure used during this project are installation and maintenance steps.
1.6 Scope Of The Study
For convenient the scope of the study would be limited to the standard or stable power supply from power holding company of Nigeria in Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna.
