Sociology and anthropology is one of the social science courses you can study in the university in Nigeria. Most UTME applicants do find it difficult to find the required JAMB subject combination for the course so they do make mistakes. Its because of this that I decided to write out the Jamb subject combination and the O’level requirements.
JAMB Subject Combination For Sociology And Anthropology In Nigerian Universities
- English Language and Three Social Science or Arts Subjects
O’Level Requirements For Sociology And Anthropology In Nigerian Universities
- Five SSCE credit passes in Government or History, English Language and three other subjects. At least a pass in Mathematics is required.
Direct Entry Requirements For Sociology And Social Anthropology
- Two ‘A’ level passes including Government or History
Direct Entry Special Consideration For Sociology And Anthropology
(i) UNN accepts two A’ level passes in Social Sciences or Arts subjects in addition to UTME requirements.
(ii) EKSU and IMSU – No direct entry
(iii) BENIN requires two ‘A’ level passes including any Social Science subject; ND (Upper Credit)/HND (Lower Credit) in relevant Social Science disciplines such as public Administration, Mass Communication; NCE (overall merit) with credit pass in relevant Social Science subject. Direct Entry candidates must satisfy UTME requirements.
(iv) EBSU accepts HND, NCE and ND with a minimum of Merit and Upper credit respectively in relevant fields.
(v) UYO accepts ND/HND/NCE in relevant fields plus UTME requirements.
(vi) OAU O’ level credit passes from English language,, Mathematics and any three subjects from Economics, Geography, Government, Biology and Chemistry.
(vii) UNIZIK requires similar requirements as for Econs for both Direct Entry and UTME applicants but a pass in O/L Mathematics is acceptable.
(viii) IMSU- No Direct Entry.
(ix) BIU same as Political Science
(x) OAU accepts Two ‘A’ level passes in subjects such as Economics, Geography, Government , History
(xi) CUAB accepts IJAMB at acceptable grade levels.
(xii) NDU accepts:
- a. Two ‘A’ level passes in Government, Economics, Religious Knowledge, Geography, and History.
- b. National Diploma in related area, provided such diploma is passed at upper credit level.
- c. N.C.E. in related area at credit level.
(xiii) ESUTECH requires two A’ level passes including Government or History plus UTME requirements. Accepts ND in Social Work/Development and Administration, with at least a merit pass plus UTME requirements
