JAMB Subject Combination for Home Economics

This is the UTME and Direct entry admission requirements  with combination into home economics in Nigerian universities.

Do you want to study home economics in any Nigerian university? All you need to do is to take up a JAMB form, or direct entry form. The best way to admission is to ensure you fill in the proper JAMB subject combination, this is because it can at the end of the day affect your chances of gaining admission.

Therefore, I will list out the subject combination for UTME and O’level courses you need to have, in order to gain admission to study home economics.

JAMB Subject Combination For Home Economics:

  1. Chemistry
  2. Biology/Agriculture
  3.  Mathematics/Physics
  4. one Social Science subject.

Subject Combination For Home Economics:

Five SSCE credit passes in Chemistry, Biology/Agric Science, Mathematics, Physics, English Language and any one of Nutrition, Fine Arts, Textile, Construction, Technical Drawing, Basic Electricity, Basic Catering and Food Services, Bakery and Confectioneries, General Metal Work, Men Garment Construction and Finishing, Spinning, Weaving, Surface Design and Printing, Bleaching, Dyeing and Finishing, Ladies Garment Construction and Finishing.

Direct Entry Requirements For Home Economics:

Two ‘A’ level passes or equivalents in Chemistry and Biology/Botany/Agricultural Science/Economics/Physics/Mathematics/Geography/Accounting.

Special Direct Entry Requirements For Home Economics

(i) UYO accepts (upper credit) and HND (lower credit) and NCE (merit) in relevant fields plus UTME requirements.

(ii) UMUDIKE – As in Agriculture. Also accepts SRN/NRN or NCE with Distinction.

(iii) OAU – accepts NCE in Home Economics/Biology/Chemistry/Agric Science with five merit/credit passes in TC II in the following subjects: Social Studies, Maths, Agric Science, General Studies, Fine Arts, Geography and Rural Science.

(iv) ILORIN requires at least ‘A’ pass in Physics, accepts NCE holders with relevant five ‘O’ level credit passes.

(v) FUNAAB accepts ND (minimum of upper credit) and NCE (minimum of Credit) in Hospitality and Tourism, Catering Management, Hotel Management, Home Economics from a recognized Institution in addition to UTME requirements. Management., Statistics. Economics, B/Studies, Zoology, Commerce or any of the following pairs Chem & Biology., Chemistry & Agriculture & Chemistry & Economics.

(ii) UYO accepts five merit passes in TC II in relevant subjects.

(iii) UMUDIKE
(a) For Home Economics – Same as in Agriculture.
(b) For Hotel Management and tourism, it requires five O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and any of Physics, Economics and Government.

(iv) MAKURDI accepts P7 in English Language.

(v) ILORIN requires at least a pass in Physics and Biology.

(vi) BELLS as in Food Science and Technology.

(vii) UNIOSUN requires Five ‘O’ Level credit passes in the SSCE or its equivalent at not more than two sittings in addition to an acceptable credit pass in the UME.

(viii) FUNAAB REQUIRES five (5) credits passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.

(ix) CRUTECH accepts one Social Science subject (Economics or Accounting/Commerce) in place of Food and Nutrition/Home Economics.
