Medicine and Surgery Direct Entry Admission Requirements into Nigerian Universities

Medicine and surgery is one of the most competitive courses in Nigeria. Despite the long period to stay in school studying medicine, yet so many people want to study it. Apart from the fact that you can apply for medicine through UTME, you can also get admission into Nigerian universities to study medicine and surgery through direct entry.

Therefore, this post is meant to highlight medicine direct entry admission requirements into various Nigerian universities. As so many applicants are busy asking for unilorin medicine direct entry, Unilag direct entry into medicine, also direct entry into medicine abroad.

UTME Entry requirements

What Are The Nigerian Universities That Accepts Direct Entry Into Medicine?

As far as Nigeria is concerned, most of the institutions that offers medicine and surgery accepts direct entry into the institutions. The only problem is knowing and meeting up with the admission requirements.

UDU, MAIDUGURI accept A level  pass  in Mathematics in lieu of Physics.

LAGOS as in Dentistry.

BINGHAM and PHC – No Direct Entry

OOU and CALABAR accept Degree in Science not below Second Class Lower Division.

CALABAR accepts Degree (not below a good second class lower Division) in Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology, Nursing Science, Medical  Laboratory, Biology, Zoology or Chemistry. Does not accept IJMB for Direct Entry.

ABSU, AAU and OOU accept Degree in related fields. BSU, ILORIN, IMSU and LASU accept a good Honours degree (minimum of second class upper)

(a) At least a second class upper division from a recognised University in either B.Sc Biological Sciences or B.Sc. Medical Sciences.

(x) ABSU and ILORIN all candidates no matter their mode of admission are required to have GCE ‘O’ level or equivalent with credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at one sitting and same sitting.

(x)  ILORIN accepts B.Sc (Second Class Honours) in Anatomy, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Physiology, Zoology and other Basic Sciences  fields. Also accept a minimum aggregate of 13 points.

(xi) LASU requires a minimum of ‘C’ in each of the subjects and will consider a Bachelor of Science with a minimum of Second Upper Division for admission.

(xii) LAUTECH accepts ‘A’ Level passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology (plus UTME requirements) may be considered for admission into 200 level.

(xiii) OAU accepts B.Sc. with a minimum of 2nd Class Honours in relevant discipline (Sciences) certificate Examination or its equivalent.

  1. b) First Degree in relevant Biomedical sciences (Medical, paramedical, biological, chemical or physical Sciences) not less than Second Class Upper Division level.

(xviii) NDU accepts:

H“C/GC A͛ Level passes in Chemistry, Biology and Physics with a minimum of 10 points in not more than two sittings.

A B.Sc. degree holder with a minimum of second class upper division in the areas Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics and Botany.

(xix)  LAGOS accepts;

(a)  Very good passes in the following JUPEB/A-LEVEL subjects: Physics Chemistry and Biology.

(b) B.Sc. Degree First Class/Second Class Upper in fields such as Physiology, Biochemistry, Physiotherapy Ophthalmology, Pharmacology and Zoology.

(xx) ABUJA requires D/E candidates to fulfill
